چکیده

Poor surface finish on die and mould transfers the bad quality to processed parts. High roughness is an example of that normally reduced by manual polishing after conventional milling machining process. Therefore, in order avoid disadvantages disadvantage machining, a sequence two operations proposed. The main operation run followed Rotary Ultrasonic Machining Assisted Milling (RUMAM). However, this requires optimum input parameters generate lowest roughness. Hence, paper aims optimize for both three soft-computing approaches – Genetic Algorithm, Tabu Search, Particle Swarm Optimization. method adopted begins with fitness function development, optimization approach usage ends up result evaluation validation. outperforms experiment having minimum Based findings, conclusion suggests lower can be obtained applying at maximum cutting speed vibration frequency, feed rate. This finding assists manufacturers apply proper values obtain parts

Modeling the machining parameters of AISI D2 tool steel material with multi wall carbon nano tube in electrical discharge machining process using response surface methodology

This work investigates the machining characteristics of American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) D2 tool steel with copper as a tool electrode during electrical discharge machining (EDM) process. The multi wall carbon nano tube (MWCNT) is mixed with dielectric fluids in EDM process to analyze the surface characteristics of surface roughness. Regression model were developed to predict the surfac...

On machining of hardened AISI D2 steel with PCBN tools

This paper describes an experimental investigation on machining of a difficult-to-cut material, AISI D2 steel of hardness 62 HRC with PCBN tools. It was found that the most feasible feeds and speeds fall in the ranges 0.08–0.20 mm/rev and 70–120 m/min, respectively and that most of the tested PCBN tools reached the end of life mainly due to flank wear. The highest acceptable values of tool life...

High cycle fatigue of electrical-discharge machined AISI D2 tool steel

An analysis of electrical-discharge machined AISI D2 tool steel for high-cycle fatigue is conducted. The damage model was developed to reveal the in£uence of different electrical-discharge machining conditions on the fatigue life. The processed surface layer and the cross-section were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The experimental results show that the fatigue life of the EDMed...

Fatigue Life of Graphite Powder Mixing Electrical Discharge Machining AISI D2 Tool Steel

The present paper deals with the design of experimental work matrices for two groups of experiments by using Response surface methodology (RSM). The first EDM group was dealt with the use of kerosene dielectric alone, while the second was treated by adding the graphite micro powders mixing to dielectric fluid (PMEDM). The total heat flux generated and fatigue lives after EDM and PMEDM models we...
